Addressing the food crisis among the Yanomami indigenous peoples, Movimento União BR requested Simple Nutri to develop a customized solution to meet the local food culture and address the nutritional deficit of the peoples, overcoming the various logistical complexities of the region. The solution was tested with the main local organizations operating in the Amazon: ISA, EDS, HATUKARA, and DSEI-Y, with high acceptance rates.

The aim of the action was to ensure that the Yanomami could have access to food while recovering in health posts, reducing treatment dropout and ensuring improvement in the health conditions of the patients.

A total of 15,000 meals were delivered at 7 different poles. The major challenge of the action was logistics to reach remote regions, with the dehydrated solution being more suitable than basic food baskets.

The meals had high acceptance rates in the test reports conducted by the ISA organization, evaluating taste, texture, transport, storage, ease of preparation, etc.
